PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -
A Clackamas man accused of kidnapping and raping prostitutes will spend more than eight years behind bars after changing his plea.
James Murphy pleaded guilty to several charges, including rape and sex abuse Monday.
Investigators arrested Murphy, 29, in October for sex crimes in Clackamas County. A Multnomah County grand jury later indicted him on charges involving new alleged victims.
Earlier this month, Murphy told Fox 12 that he didn’t rape anyone. Instead, Murphy said he paid the women for sex and stole the money back.
Murphy was sentenced to eight years and four months in prison. He must also register as a sex offender.

Oregon State Police (OSP) arrested a Wilsonville woman Wednesday afternoon during an investigation of a minor injury traffic crash on Interstate 5 near Tualatin after troopers determined she was wanted on outstanding felony and misdemeanor warrants out of Multnomah County.
According to OSP Sergeant Fred Testa, on December 28, 2011 at approximately 1:52 p.m. police, fire and medical personnel responded to a reported traffic crash in the southbound lanes of Interstate 5 near milepost 288. Upon arrival, witnesses stated one of the female drivers, identified as DARLA JO DUPREE, age 26, from Wilsonville, got into the backseat of the vehicle she was driving. When questioned by officers, DUPREE denied driving.
A routine check discovered DUPREE was wanted out of Multnomah County on a felony warrant charging Dangerous Drugs and a misdemeanor warrant charging Prostitution. She was also driving with a suspended operator’s license.

percent of life on earth. So what better time than now, during “Occupy”
mania, for the Xerces Society to celebrate 40 years of advocacy on behalf of
invertebrates, Earth’s industrious, but neglected, 99 percent?
Robert Michael Pyle, a
scientist-poet with a weakness for butterflies, founded The Xerces Society in
1971. He named it after the Xerces blue (Glaucopsyche xerces), the first North American butterfly to go extinct
due to human disturbance, in the hopes the insect would “make an apt
symbol” and steel the group’s resolve to prevent more species losses, says
Pyle in a recent issue of Wings, the
Xerces Society’s biannual magazine.

Portland police cold case detectives said a snorkeler spotted something shiny in the murky water of the Washougal River. “He went down to find it and discovered an arm, the shape of a human,” said retired homicide detective Kerry Taylor, who is reviewing the case.Police said she did not drown, but was murdered.  The cause of death was trauma. They believe she was killed elsewhere, then dumped. “I still to this day dream, ‘Mommy, Mommy, how can you help?’ It’s tough to have your little girl getting hurt and you can’t help her,” Schupp said.Krueger’s family sat down with FOX 12 recently.  They said the murder still torments them, especially Krueger’s daughter, Cassandra, who is now a teenager. “So, maybe Cassie will have a little closure. She asks all the time, ‘When is this going to be solved?’” said Krueger’s sister, Jenny Krueger.
Taylor said Krueger was last seen three weeks before her body was found. She was working for a Portland escort service, according to detectives.

PORTLAND, Ore. – Mayors and police chiefs of cities from southern Oregon to Vancouver B.C. met in Portland Tuesday, to pledge greater cooperation fighting crime associated with Interstate 5.
Leaders said it was time to collaborate more closely, to tackle drug, gun and human trafficking that uses the Interstate as a West Coast pipeline.
“The criminal organizations that we’re targeting — they don’t know jurisdictions. They move up and down our I-5 corridor because it’s profitable to them,” said Portland Police Chief Mike Reese.
Sex trafficking is the fastest growing form of crime in the world, according to the Oregon Human Trafficking Task Force.
The U.S. Justice Department estimates 300,000 of those exploited nationally in the sex traffic trade are children.
The Interstate system allows pimps to keep their illegal trade moving, to avoid law enforcement.
