Portland Strip Clubs: Cop Says He Lost Job for Talking to CBS

by exoticinportland

… Justus says he worked as a Portland Police officer for 25 years, and “established himself as a passionate investigator of human and child sex trafficking cases and a staunch advocate of the role of his work within the larger bureau.”
In April 2010, the “Dan Rather Reports” TV show was making a program about human trafficking and interviewed Justus.
”The interview took approximately three hours, during which plaintiff spoke out on the magnitude of the human and sex trafficking crimes in Portland, Oregon, and the allocation of the city’s resources to the prevention of related crimes,” the complaint states.
After the interview, Justus says, his commander yelled at him because he used the word “blow job,” during the interview.
Justus says Rather asked him Justus to take him and the film crew to see local strip clubs, and an assistant police chief, now retired, insisted that a lieutenant chaperone Justus, lest he “embarrass the city.”

Portland Strip Clubs: Busting the myth of Portland as strip club capital

by exoticinportland

Busting the myth of Portland as strip club capital

Bottom line: A local paper began with the assumption that only Las Vegas and San Francisco could possibly beat Portland in the metric of strip clubs per person. The paper counted clubs, divided by population, and—voilà!—a legend was born. The methodology is pretty shaky, so you should take a generous grain of salt next time you’re told Portland has the most strips per person of any city. If this were PolitiFact, the claim would be rated “Barely True.”

Discuss this article Pdxlager January 18, 2012 You didn’t “bust” a thing here! What is the answer then? You have no idea. Worst attempt EVAH. Bob Clark January 18, 2012 Interesting. I wouldn’t be shocked if the Southeast U.S. doesn’t have a few cities with higher per capita strip clubs than stumptown. Driving the roads down “South” you often see the big billboards marketing some abode where pretty women reveal. Portland Adult Entertainment: Mystery caller "21" may hold key to 1993 murder

by kingofportland

Nearly 20 years later, the burden of her sister’s death is still palpable for Hammick. On June 15, 1993, cold case police investigators said a little boy walking home from school near the pedestrian overpass at north Going and Concord noticed what looked like a human leg.
Investigators said it was the body of 29-year-old Lawauna Triplet; her body partially hidden in the bushes. Police said she died of abdominal injuries.
“This is a particularly brutal crime, not just the way she was killed, but the way she was disposed of, she was treated like a piece of meat,” said retired homicide detective Larry Findling, who recently reviewed the Triplet case.
“When she did get murdered, I felt it. I got sick instantly, body went cold. When she was being beaten, I was being beaten in my stomach,” Hammick said.
Triplet was last seen alive, police said, walking west on northeast Alberta street about 1:30 a.m. They said she was a cocaine addict, who worked as a prostitute to feed her habit.

Portland Strip Clubs: Portland police board’s report contains summaries of alleged officer …

Portland police board’s report contains summaries of alleged officer misconduct cases
Jan 10, 2012 (The Oregonian – McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) –
The Portland Police Review Board early this month released its second public report, containing summaries of cases reviewed last year involving alleged misconduct by officers — from two off-duty officers who got a free “private show” from a dancer in a strip club to a police captain accused of being “dismissive of women.”
All the names of officers are redacted, and the summaries only include the board’s recommended discipline, not the final discipline determined by the chief of police and police commissioner.
Portland police, for example, have declined to release the disciplinary action taken against Sgt. Kyle Nice, an officer involved in an alleged road-rage case in which he pulled his gun from his holster during an encounter with another motorist on April 3, 2010 in Washington County.

Yet, according to the board’s report released Jan. 6, the board unanimously found Nice acted “unprofessionally by removing, displaying or pointing his firearm at the complainant,” and that his off-duty behavior and profane language was inappropriate.  Board members said that Ni …

The bluntly titled reading series Naked Girls Reading seems an obvious pairing for Portland, pride ourselves as we do on our strip clubs and bookstores—and we’re finally getting a chapter of the nationwide series, thanks to local burlesque producers Rayleen Courtney and Sophie Maltease.
Naked Girls Reading is just what it sounds like: Naked ladies read aloud literary selections of their choosing (in any genre; this isn’t a porn reading). The lineup for Portland’s inaugural event features local burlesque performers including Courtney and Maltese, as well as Baby Le’Strange, Kit Katastrophic, and Delilah Sinn. No word yet on what they’ll be be reading. Paul Constant reviewed Naked Girls Reading’s Seattle arm for The Stranger; the piece actually sold me on the series more than the premise alone did:

Portland Adult Entertainment: Accused rapist: ‘I never forced anybody to do anything’

by kingofportland

She claims Murphy offered her money for oral sex but he then raped her in the front seat of his Jeep.
“He started yelling at me and cussing at me and told me he had a knife in the side of his door,” she says.
Michelle says she stumbled out of Murphy’s car and called police.
Last week, Michelle gave grand jury testimony along with two other women. But during a jail house interview on Monday, Murphy said all of their statements are lies.
“I want the truth to come out, and they don’t want that,” Murphy says.
Murphy claims the only thing he is guilty of is not paying his prostitutes.
On more than one occasion, Murphy admits that he picked up prostitutes and had sex with them, but then took the money back and kicked them out of his car.

Portland Strip Clubs: EXCLUSIVE: Fred Armisen Talks Portlandia Season 2

by exoticinportland

Fred Armisen: That is an aesthetic that I like. I do know what you mean. It’s interesting that you pointed it out that way, but its something that I have always liked. Its one of the reasons I have always liked England. I know that’s like name-dropping a country, “Hey, I travel!” But I like the way England is always overcast. And it does look like a horror movie sometimes. That is something I definitely like about Portland. And I mean that as a complement.
The city does have that overtly weird, dark feel. I know you’re not from Portland, but did you ever delve into some of the popular haunts from the 70s and 80s that aren’t around any more? Like Hippo Hardware, and The Organ Grinder, Acropolis, and The Sandy Jug? These dank, unsettling outposts…Mary’s Club. The haunted house of strip clubs. That actually gets a shout out here in Season 2…

Portland Strip Clubs: Portland’s New Year’s resolutions

by exoticinportland

Randy Leonard once tried to scare the SE Division neighborhood where the former Nature’s building still stands vacant by pointing out that an adult business could move into the space. Given that Portland is famous throughout the country for its clean, safe, couple-, female-, and even queer-friendly adult establishments—and the fact the city is a Mecca for those of us who identify as being out of the mainstream—this was both an upsetting and worrisome attack on that well-deserved reputation. I’d like to see that negativity gone. Adult businesses aren’t just good for our employment and economic health, they’re also good for our relationship, mental, and physical health.
I’ve been largely freaked out by riding a bike ever since taking a nasty tumble along a busy street in east county during my teens, but I am beyond proud (yes, to the point of boasting about it alongside our booze-with-full-nudity-strip clubs and nation’s strongest First Amendment) of our bike-friendliness. Alas, the ironic flip side to the popularity of this eco-enhancing …
