Portland Strip Clubs: Pig cook-off leads to lawsuit

by exoticinportland

A lawsuit has been filed in Multnomah County Circuit Court over a strip club fight stemming from a pig cook-off held in May 2010 at the Governor Hotel in Portland.

However, to Bechard, local sourcing is a key element in sustainable agriculture, and the pig prepared by the winning chef in the Governor Hotel cookoff was imported from Iowa. That led to a pair of altercations afterward, the first at the Davis Street Tavern and the second, shortly before 2 a.m., at the nearby Magic Gardens strip club.
Bechard, allegedly intoxicated, reportedly elbowed and head-butted Craig Hedstrom, sales manager for Elk Cove Vineyards in Gaston, at the tavern. He reportedly shoved and punched Lowe outside the strip club, located at 217 N.W. Fourth Ave., and police had to be called to break it up.

Portland Strip Clubs: Portland duo bringing gritty blues to Blackwater

by exoticinportland

Thomas was in Seattle, as he and Jack Beisel – they are Hopeless Jack & the Handsome Devil – headed south to Stockton. They play their “lowdown dirty roots ‘n’ roll, really dirty blues,” as Thomas phrased it, Sunday at the Blackwater Cafe.
Hopeless Jack & the Handsome Devil
When: 8 p.m. SundayWhere: Blackwater Cafe, 912 N. Yosemite St., StocktonAdmission: $5Information: (209) 943-6938
A lot of people are almost as curious about “Portlandia” – the satirical TV series that spoofs the duo’s laid-back, progressively correct home base – as they are about Jack & the Devil’s gritty, keep-it-real blues hybrid.
“It’s funny,” Thomas said of the IFC series that features actor-comedian Fred Armisen and rock musician-actor Carrie Brownstein. “There’s some resentment toward it in Portland. Actually, people love it. They say it’s ‘cheesy. … But that one moment was hilarious.’ It’s easy to make fun of Portland. But they haven’t described the Portland I know. The strip clubs and the dirtiness.”

The long-running hit TV show “America’s Most Wanted” will spotlight the efforts of the Vancouver Police Department to curb child sex trafficking in a special segment expected to air this month.
Producers and TV cameramen joined Vancouver police investigators for a sting May 2 called “Operation Rescue and Restore.” During the sting, an undercover officer arranged “dates” with girls who advertised on online sites.
The sting did not net any arrests or the recovery of underage girls, but investigators were able to rescue a 5-year-old girl who was being watched by prostitutes, said Vancouver police Sgt. John Chapman. Chapman said he has an active investigation relating to the sting.

Portland Strip Clubs: Infamous fistfight over a pig’s provenance leads to lawsuit

by exoticinportland

An infamous two-year-old fight over the provenance of a pig took another turn of its corkscrew tail this week, as one of the participants sued the other in Multnomah County Circuit Court.
Brady Lowe, an organizer of Cochon 555, a nationally touring pig-cooking competition, filed suit Monday against Eric Bechard, accusing the chef at McMinnville’s Thistle of battery and negligence and seeking damages of more than $280,000.
According to the suit, Bechard became intoxicated at the Portland Cochon 555 in May, 2010 and, upset that the winning pig came from Iowa, called out “misrepresentation.” At an after-party attended by food and wine industry folks at Old Town’s Davis Street Tavern, Bechard reportedly headbutted Craig Hedstrom, a sales manager for Elk Cove Vineyards, and was ejected from the bar. Later that night, at the Magic Garden strip club (described in the suit as “a nearby tavern”), Bechard fought with Lowe. Portland police arrested both men.

Portland Escorts: Rod Underhill — Multnomah County’s next DA — will focus on gangs, family …

by escortingportland

Safety first: Wife made him give up bike commuting in winter after he was struck by a driver who didn’t see him several years ago. He broke a few ribs.
Most miles: 175 in RAMROD — Ride Around Mount Rainier in One Day. He’s done it three times.
Endorsements: District attorneys of Multnomah, Clackamas and Washington counties; Portland Police Chief Mike Reese; various police associations; Portland Business Alliance; numerous defense attorneys.
Underhill’s initiatives
Preventing gang violence: He’s working with police, probation officers and community leaders to identify the top 10 gang-torn families, then flooding them with opportunities such as jobs, state assistance and tutoring and mentoring for their children.
Human trafficking: Gangs today are more likely to make money from prostitution than drugs, Underhill says, so law enforcement must look for human-trafficking victims rather than just drugs when they encounter gang members and their “girlfriends.”

Portland Escorts: ‘Dangerous Liaisons’ review: Languid pace, gaudy garments sets production off …

by escortingportland

Also responsible for the cognitive dissonance produced by this production is that the women characters are, by and large, spectacularly arrayed in garments outrageous, gaudy and gay (thanks to costume designer Melissa Heller). La Merquise de Merteuil, for instance, wears a lacy, flowery peplum over her colorful panniers — those hip bustles as worn by Marie Antoinette that push out the sides of skirts until they are almost perpendicular to the body. Under this construction is a sheer white petticoat, and under that, white thigh-high stockings. High-heeled shoes of glittery silver, and more thigh-high stockings, these topped with pert bows, are sported by Emilie (Megan Carver), a courtesan oft visited by Valmont. We cannot take our eyes off this costuming, which shouts the language of comedy, of the absurd or the carnivalesque: such a contrast to the characters’ world-weary sophistication.

Portland Adult Entertainment: Supportive housing improves safety for female sex workers: BC study

by kingofportland

The study also found that women living in and working from the units felt they increased their control over negotiating sex-work transactions because they could refuse unwanted service, negotiate condom use and avoid violent predators.
Janice Abbott, chief executive officer of the Atira Women’s Resource Society, explained why the relationship between women and the police has changed.
“When women are forced to work on the street in the public domain they are often harassed by the police who, perhaps, have an obligation to do their jobs,” she said,
“When they’re not in the public domain, when they are in their own homes, they are able to have a relationship with the police that’s much different.”

Shannon said she thinks the study needs to lead to more discussions on what safer sex-worker spaces can look like and said talks have already included ideas like co-operative brothels.

Portland Escorts: Untangling the Willamette Week, Backpage and AG candidate link

by escortingportland

PORTLAND, Ore. – Candidate for Oregon Attorney General Ellen Rosenblum is promising to crack down on teen prostitution, but at the same time she has a link – though family – to a website accused of being a primary conduit for human trafficking.
Rosenblum is married to Richard Meeker, the owner of the newspaper Willamette Week. The newspaper’s online classifieds are run by Backpage.com. Willamette Week does not post sex ads, but nationally Backpage is accused of dealing in teen prostitution.

The current Oregon and Washington attorneys general are among 44 who signed on to a national letter to Backpage last summer, saying the site is a “hub” for teen prostitution and needs to change.

Backpage has promised law enforcement it is cracking down on ads for teen prostitution but according to Portland police, they’re not seeing it.
