Portland Escorts: Letters: Should we allow a private casino?

Letters: Should we allow a private casino?
Published: Monday, August 30, 2010, 8:03 PM
Print publication: Tuesday, Aug. 31
Dear Oregon voters: If you are going to be naive enough to vote to guarantee a lifetime of income to a couple of guys from Lake Oswego who want to open a casino, I hope you’ll also consider my brothel. It will also create jobs, generate income for schools and deliver money to counties around the state. Except, unlike those cheapskates, I’ll give 50 percent of my profits to the state instead of a measly 25 percent. After all, I’m not actually doing anything, just like they aren’t.
However, I do like their idea of not putting their casino near where they live. They’ll dump the casino in a more run-down part of town, but I want a classier place for my customers. I was thinking that downtown Lake Oswego would be a great location.

Portland Strip Clubs: Comedy review: Margaret Cho adds maturity — and musical comedy — to stand-up …

by exoticinportland

Unlike during her election-year tours, politics took a bit of a back seat, though Cho got in a few barbs about California’s Proposition 8
Her biggest riffs remained current events, body image and gay culture. Cho’s been trying to make headway at her gym in Peachtree City, Ga.,  she explained, the Atlanta suburb where her girl-powered Lifetime comedy “Drop Dead Diva” shoots. To the gym’s stacks of conservative Focus on Family magazines, Cho says she’s added gay reading staples The Advocate magazine and Italian Men’s Vogue.
And a huge theme was sex: procuring sex now that she’s in her 40s, as opposed to her 20s, when she said all she had to do was pretend she didn’t speak English; imagining sex during her living-assisted years; her own perils with sexting; to visiting a strip club that employs elderly strippers and serves steaks. (”What kind of wine goes with that?” she pondered.)

Portland Adult Entertainment: Criminal HIV Transmission Research Project Tops 100 Online Profiles

by kingofportland

The Criminal HIV Transmission Media Research Project officially began in the fall of 2009 after it became evident that HIV related criminal activity was on the rise all over the western world and that the International STD Carrier Registry would be the perfect tool for tracking AIDS criminals on the internet. Due to the sites search engine friendly design most criminal profiles show up on the first page of Google searches for relevant searches.
The list of Criminal HIV Transmission Exposure and Arrest Records are categorized as Sex Crimes, Prostitution, Biological Terrorism, and Non-Disclosure. Sex Crimes is reserved for charges that require sex offender registration upon conviction. Prostitution involves HIV positive people selling sexual favors for money. Biological Terrorism involved the use of HIV as a biological weapon. Non-Disclosure involves everyday people who make the mistake of failing to disclose their HIV status before having sex. Recently convicted German singer Nadja Benaissa has been a member of the latter for over a year.

Portland Escorts: A Christian initiative at a Gresham apartment complex bears fruit

by escortingportland

So far, as part of their grass-roots project, roughly a dozen young Christian men and women have made Barberry Village their home. Their goal: Create a sense of community in a chaotic neighborhood overrun with drugs, prostitution and gangs.
Their work mirrors, in some ways, the “new monasticism” movement, in which Christians move into urban or rural areas to work with the poor.
It’s not an easy way to live. Neighbors at Barberry Village have been suspicious. Safety is a concern. And some of these urban missionaries have burned out on a project that can be a 24-hour-a-day burden.

Lawlessness is fueled by a MAX line that barrels through on East Burnside, just a half-block from the apartment complex. Drug dealers and prostitutes often slip in and out of the neighborhood on the MAX, said Gresham police Sgt. Marvin Madtson, who runs a group of officers assigned to troubled neighborhoods.

Portland Escorts: Indian orphanage proves eye-opener for Sherwood woman

by escortingportland

Their performance was a thank you present for the group of people who had spent the last 10 days playing and singing with them, reading them stories from the Bible, and sprucing up the orphanage where they live in the town of Shimoga, India.
“It was the most precious thing I have ever seen in my whole life,” said Sherwood resident Megan Van Noy.
Spreading Joy at Happy Home
Van Noy, a 2008 graduate of Sherwood High School, was one of the 10 church members from Solid Rock Church in Portland who traveled to Happy Home for the Handicapped in Shimoga, India, this July. The team, ranging from ages 17- 40 also spent four days at rehabilitation centers in the city of Calcutta for girls who had been rescued from prostitution.

Portland Strip Clubs: Proposed Portland Strip Club Met With Opposition

Proposed Portland Strip Club Met With Opposition
POSTED: 5:47 pm PDT August 25, 2010
UPDATED: 6:39 pm PDT August 25, 2010
PORTLAND, Ore. — Some residents of Hayden Island in north Portland are fighting to stop a strip club from moving into their neighborhood.
The proposed club would be located in the building that once housed a Newport Seafood Restaurant next to Interstate 5.
Neighbors said they’ve approached the owners, written letters and gathered petitions to share their opinion. Despite the efforts, neighbors said, they were told the owners continue negotiating with a person who wants to open the strip club.
Roger Staver, president of the neighborhood association, said people living nearby believe a strip club would decrease property value and boost crime.
“It offers the opportunity for criminal activity, for drug activity and for the kinds of things we dont want to see going on the island,” Staver said.

PORTLAND, Ore. — A man suffered a minor head wound Monday night in a shooting outside Club 205 in southeast Portland.
Police said an officer was flagged down in the 9900 block of Southeast Stark Street after a report of gunfire in the strip club’s parking lot at 10:11 p.m.
The victim was inside the strip club and was walking out to his car when the gunman tried to rob him, according to witnesses. Those witnesses saw the robber put a gun to the man’s head and demand all of his money.
Witnesses said the victim suddenly ducked and the gunman pulled the trigger. The bullet grazed the victim’s head and the gunman ran away, police said.

Portland Strip Clubs: Restaurant Report Card: Strip clubs get inspections too

by exoticinportland

Aug 23, 2010 at 3:41 PM PDT
PORTLAND, Ore. – Strip clubs get health inspections too, if they serve food. This week’s Restaurant Report Card takes us to a well-known club in Portland to see how it rates with the health department.
This place has gotten a low score in the past, and the latest big inspection shows – once again – a list of violations.
The Acropolis has a reputation for its steak. Customers say it is cheap … and tasty.
However, the latest score for this strip club is 75 out of a possible 100, making its score just 6 points shy of failing given that below 70 is a failing score. The inspector found raw steak in the temperature danger zone and dried blood on the scale – among other problems.

Portland Adult Entertainment: The Side Yard: Micro Crops Growing in Popularity

by kingofportland

Stacey Givens: From Kitchen Call Girl to Renaissance Woman
When the weather’s forgiving and cooperative, you can find Anastacia Givens, who goes by the diminutive and less exotic, Stacey, in the yard planting starts and harvesting crops. The youngest of six brothers and sisters, Givens was born to a first generation Greek mother and a California native Vietnam veteran. in her early 20s, she left the comforts of family, and Southern California, to learn about the restaurant industry, first in Sacramento (where she earned a degree in restaurant management) then in San Francisco (where she interned at Millennium, the nation’s premiere vegan restaurant). Five years ago, she moved to Portland.

Having worked in kitchens for nearly half of her 28 years, Givens could well be on her way to becoming what one calls a Renaissance woman, although that’s a title she’d probably just shrug off. (Until recently, she considered herself a “kitchen call girl,” since she’s often available to fill shifts in a pinch for various Portland kitchens; she’s since been offered a sous chef position at Vino Paradiso, where she’ll start work late this summer or in early fall).

Portland Escorts: Portland Is in The Plan to Exclude Malted Beverages, Drugs, And Prostitution …

by escortingportland

Portland Is in The Plan to Exclude Malted Beverages, Drugs, And Prostitution Bussiness

In the affected neighborhoods, merchants couldn’t sell malted beverages with more than 5.75 percent alcohol or wines containing more than 14 percent. Microbrewers would be spared, and so would the two state-run stores that sell the hard stuff. Political insiders also invoke Portland’s dalliance with drug- and prostitution-free zones, efforts rejected in recent years amid privacy and racial-profiling concerns.

Fritz acknowledged Monday that some provisions, like the ban on 16-ounce cans, may yet be changed. She also said she’d explore other measures, including expanding the zone, if a ban merely pushes the problem elsewhere. But she dismissed complaints of discrimination, saying that unlike the drug and prostitution zones, no people would be banned—only liquor sales. She also trumpeted ongoing treatment-based efforts to combat public intoxication.
