Madam, – This issue is not about mistakes, sickness or even the criminality of individuals, it is about the fact that the Roman Catholic church is profoundly wrong in all its understanding and teaching about human sexuality. Just look at its record on medical ethics, the churching of mothers after birth, contraception, divorce, Aids in the third world, or homosexuality. The church boasts that its dogma is based on the works of St Augustine – who advocated prostitution in certain circumstances – and Thomas Aquinas – who believed that sperm contained a fully formed tiny human.
In what other area of life would people accept the ignoring of scientific and philosophical advances in order to “canonise” the views of medieval minds? At the time that the leaders of that church were enabling the criminal activity of some of their clergy, as well as criminally frustrating the course of justice themselves, they were secretly pressurising the British government to maintain the criminality of private homosexual love-making in Northern Ireland. Mones also showed the jury a table Marshall prepared that showed the Boy Scouts amassed 1,123 “perversion” files from 1965 to 1985, which Marshall said were simply a tool to track child molesters and remove them or prevent them from moving to another city and trying to join another Scout troop.
The files were among a total of 1,587 files divided into categories considered grounds for suspension or rejection as a Scout leader, Marshall said.
Besides perversion, the categories listed were criminal, financial, theft, leadership, moral — including homosexuality — and religious reasons, including being an atheist or an agnostic.

But the bulk of the files were in the perversion category, which includes sexual misconduct besides molesting children, such as soliciting prostitutes or possessing child pornography.

Marshall told jurors Friday that he is the employee who knows the most about the files. He oversees the files, which are kept in a locked, fire-proof cabinet — with one set of keys — at national offices in Irving, Texas. Only he and an assistant handle the files, he said, which date to 1949.
Paul Mones, an attorney for Doe, cited a Boy Scouts document that says the files existed as early as 1919.
Marshall explained that the Boy Scouts of America sorts volunteers deemed unfit into six categories: criminal, financial, leadership, religious, moral and perversion. Those who fall into the first three categories have committed crimes, been involved in inappropriate financial dealings or proved themselves poor leaders by treating children badly.
The “religious” files describe volunteers who are atheists or agnostics, and thus not allowed in the organization. The “moral” category is designated for gays. And the “perversion” category designates volunteers who’ve committed sexual misconduct, such as molesting children, soliciting prostitutes or possessing child pornography.

TUALATIN — So now we find out if everybody can get along.
In an effort that’s played out more like a family squabble than wonkish political work, Washington County leadership is acting as mediator as a $120 million urban renewal proposal divides fire district and city officials.
Tualatin wants more money to pay for the roads, parking garages and riverside amenities the city hopes will prompt redevelopment of strip malls, strip clubs and lumber yards. But extending the 35-year-old urban renewal plan will come at a financial cost to Tualatin’s governmental partners. So far fire officials — emboldened by a new state law — haven’t been willing to play ball.

Man pleads guilty to promoting prostitution of child First of its type in Clark County, prosecutor says
A man who kidnapped a 15-year-old girl last year and held her hostage to be his prostitute has pleaded guilty in Clark County Superior Court to the promotion of commercial sexual abuse of a minor.
It’s the first conviction of its type in Clark County, a deputy prosecutor said.

Prosecutors allege that Yancey developed a sexual relationship with the girl, then 15, in early July 2009, taking her to Bellevue without the consent of her foster parents. In the Puget Sound area, they checked in to several hotels, where he solicited her for prostitution on Internet sites.

Though a number of prostitution cases have emerged in Clark County Superior Court, this is the first one involving a child, Klein said.

Mississippi Marketplace, an eclectic blend of food carts and artisans, is the latest effort in Roger Goldingay’s decade-long endeavor to help revitalize the North Portland neighborhood he calls home.
Goldingay, born in Leicester, England, in 1950, played soccer for the Seattle Sounders in 1974 and for the Portland Timbers during the ‘75 and ‘76 seasons before pursuing his interest in development. When he bought the historic John Palmer House and moved to North Portland about 10 years ago, Goldingay was among the contingent of residents who faithfully picked up trash, cleaned up graffiti and discouraged prostitutes from working there, thus transforming the area into one of the city’s most vibrant neighborhoods.
