One thing I didn’t see back in the Radiant City was the infamous Strippermobile, a flatbed with a plexiglass cube on the back. Ladies from a local strip club danced — in bikinis — in the truck, sliding up and down a pole while the truck cruised up and down The Strip.
Now, don’t get me wrong. Strip clubs don’t bother me. Growing up in Vegas, you get used to it from a very young age. I remember riding home from elementary school with my mom one afternoon and being stopped at a light behind a cab with an ad for a strip joint on the trunk.

The strip club’s spokesman seemed positively giddy about the prospects of visiting the Rose City. “You can be naked up there on the street so long as you’re not aroused and you’re not arousing anyone,” he said.

But Strippermobile isn’t bohemian. It’s commercial. It’s base. One might argue that it’s demeaning, even for a city that allegedly has more strip clubs per capita than any other place in America.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A Multnomah County corrections deputy has been sentenced to two years probation after Tasering a man at a strip club a block down from the Sheriff’s office in June.
Steven Douglas Cowles says a man was threatening a stripper who he has known for a long time.
As part of his probation, the 45-year-old Cowles has agreed to enroll in an alcohol evaluation program and not drink or visit bars.
Cowles was off-duty and drinking when he fired the stun gun.

The defendants drove girls under the age of 18 to hotel rooms and other locations, and instructed them on how much they should charge for performing sexual acts, the indictment alleges.
In one specific example, Duckworth and Hollie Spriggs are accused of having “harbored” an underage girl for three days in January at the Super 8 Motel in Springfield. The girl, identified as “K.F.”, was held at the hotel for purposes of prostitution and commercial sex acts, the indictment asserts.
On or around Jan. 21, the two women defendants again “harbored” the girl at the Crosslands Hotel in Springfield, the indictment says.
On Feb. 28, all three defendants recruited “K.F.” and another underage girl following a concert in Eugene, and took them to a private Springfield residence for purposes of prostitution, the indictment alleges. The sex trafficking began in January and continued through April, the indictment says.

Deputy gets probation for Tasering man in strip club

Wearing a brown cowboy hat and brown suede jacket, with his brown-and-white shaggy-haired service dog by his side, a Multnomah County corrections deputy was sentenced to two years probation on Wednesday for Tasering a man in a strip bar.
Steven Douglas Cowles, 45, agreed to take part in an alcohol evaluation program and not drink, or visit bars or taverns, as part of a plea agreement for firing the stun gun off-duty.
“In my 23 years here, I don’t believe anybody’s done this exact behavior,” said Lt. Mary Lindstrand,  spokeswoman for the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office.
Cowles initially faced two counts, including harassment. That charge was dismissed, with the deputy pleading no contest to unlawful use of a stun gun in the second degree, a misdemeanor.

A couple of years later, he was arrested at a weigh station in Iowa, on a felony warrant for failure to appear on the charge. He eluded extradition, as the charge was then dropped to a misdemeanor. However, for unknown reasons, the Siskiyou County’s District Attorney’s Office exceptionally cleared him of all charges, despite his plea and admission of guilt.
After facing the legal charges over the assault, he resisted the urge to kill again for fifteen months. During which time, he had made the irreversible decision to become a serial murderer. Henceforth, the next time he gave in to his urge to kill, he was fully prepared to act. He had already decided what type of victim he would hunt; transient women, possibly prostitutes or drug addicts, homeless or hitch hiking females. He wanted to avoid any further interaction with the law, so he chose victims that he believed no one would look for in the event of their disappearance.

A federal judge in Urbana is expected to set a sentencing date for former Grant Park Police Chief Scott Fitts this afternoon during a telephone conference with attorneys.
Chief Judge Michael P. McCuskey will make the conference call at 1:15 p.m. today from the Central U.S. District Court in Urbana. Court documents indicate that Fitts’ attorney and prosecutors have agreed that the case can proceed to sentencing.
Fitts, 42, pleaded guilty on May 28 to wire fraud, filing a false 2006 U.S. Income Tax return and money laundering in connection with a prostitution scam that he operated out of the Grant Park Police Department.
The sting netted more than $400,000 in “fines” from victims according to prosecutors.
He remains free on a $90,000 bond. Fitts could face up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine for wire fraud if the maximum sentence is imposed.

Roberto sports a Blazer jersey with his name on it. I wonder if he has one for each city he visits? And is the number 3 supposed to balance him between Blazerdom and Allen Iverson fanage? Hard to say, but his soundtrack is a pretty strange mix of the dramatic (theme from 2001) and swingin’ jazz. He’s currently balancing on a board that’s on a roller, spinning a saw on his hardhat and juggling hammers. But I keep thinking he’ll start stripping at any moment. Just seems like a stripper to me. Like a cross between a New York Doll and a Chippendale dancer.

Over the past nine months, she has faced harsh criticism for not firing the head basketball coach and was blamed for the behavior of football coaches who were involved in altercations with police and a baseball coach who allegedly took students to a strip club.
She’s also been threatened with lawsuits and believes rumors circulating that she was tailed by a private investigator. She didn’t see anyone following her, but a court case revealed that a parent hired a detective to tail the basketball coach, so it’s within the realm of possibility that she also was a target.
Chapman’s philosophy is to make the tough call, the decision that no one else wants to make. It’s a quality that some in the Lincoln community respect, but it’s also the quality that has drawn the most heat.

Tuesday, Dec. 22
- The Mitsubishi Eclipse of a man in the 12100 block of Scholls Ferry Road was reported stolen. The man gave police the wrong license plate number, then admitted that he had been drinking and had simply forgotten where he parked the car. The vehicle was later found by the man’s friend.
