Portland Strip Clubs: Closing Statements Delivered In Brandon Brown Trial

by exoticinportland

PORTLAND (NEWS CENTER) — Brandon Brown is charged with attempted murder, elevated aggravated assault and reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon for shooting Marine Sgt. James Sanders outside a Portland bar.
Monday Brown took the stand in his own defense, telling jurors he feared Sanders and fired one shot to protect himself. He testified Sanders threw him to the ground while people punched and kicked him. When he was finally able to get up he says he saw Sanders reach for a knife on the ground and that’s when he fired one shot into sanders chest.
The shot left Sanders paralyzed from the waist down. Besides his career in the military Sanders also worked as a bouncer at the Platinum Plus strip club. It was there, a few months before the shooting, that Sanders forced Brown to leave the club after a disturbance.

ID theft suspect arrested by mistake
The real Kimberly Fossen did NOT commit the crimes
Updated: Friday, 13 Nov 2009, 12:22 PM ESTPublished : Friday, 13 Nov 2009, 12:22 PM EST
(CNN) – “Kimberly Fossen” was arrested for burglary and larceny in connection with a case in New York. However, she was the victim of identity theft.
“This could happen to anybody,” said the real Kimberly Fossen.
Lien Huynh posed as Kimberly Fossen and, according to the real Fossen’s attorney, she has quite the rap sheet.
“She has warrants out for her arrest in Las Vegas for prostitution and in Florida for larceny,” said Samantha Dang, Fossen’s attorney.
She committed all those crimes, according to Dang, after stealing fossen’s identity.
We’ve kind of pieced it all together, and figure she’s a high end escort who moves around,” said Dang.

Portland Adult Entertainment: Does Twilight Sell Sex to Teens?

by kingofportland

SIERRA HALEY: I think it’s more like that that they’re in love with love…like ‘If you die I’m gonna die.’ Oh it’s just sad.
Fellow senior Jesus Gomez is a “Twilight” hater as well. He thinks Edward the sparkling vampire is lame but he can see the appeal.
JESUS GOMEZ: I think girls just like the fact that he’s acting like a bad boy.
EDWARD: Are you afraid?
But then vampires are usually bad boys. Just check out the oversexed vampires of HBO’s adult oriented “True Blood” or the teen bloodsuckers in either “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” or the more recent TV show “The Vampire Diaries.” In the upcoming “New Moon,” sexual tensions heat up even more. Teen Tashiya Harris says Edward leaves Bella and that provides an opening for Taylor Launter’s werewolf Jacob to make his move.

Portland Adult Entertainment: First US marijuana cafe opens for business in Portland

by kingofportland

Madeline Martinez, executive director of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws in Oregon, says that the Cannabis Club “represents personal freedom, finally, for our members.” NORML supports legislation to legalize marijuana.
“Our plans go beyond serving food and marijuana,” Martinez continues. “We hope to have classes, seminars, even a Cannabis Community College, based here to help people learn about growing and other uses for cannabis.” The Food is For Sale, but the Pot is Free
The Cannabis Cafe’s new home is a two-story building with an interesting past. Once upon a time, it was occupied by a speakeasy, and later, an adult entertainment club called Rumpspankers. The Cannabis Cafe is a private club, but any Oregon resident who is a member of NORML and has an official medical marijuana card can gain entry.

Portland Adult Entertainment: Senator seeks bill to fight sex trafficking

by kingofportland

Underage prostitution. Violent pimps. Sexual exploitation.
Are these terms the first to come to mind when you envision social issues in Oregon? They are at the top of the list for Senator Ron Wyden, who introduced a new legislation Nov. 12 aiming to vanquish human sex trafficking in the state.
“Sex trafficking is slavery, pure and simple,” Wyden said in a news release.
The proposed legislation will provide greater protection and support for victims, usually female, and strengthen prosecution for the mostly-male pimps who exploit them. Wyden stressed the message that the girls involved with sex trafficking, found to be in their mid-teens, are the victims of this business, and not involved in supporting the process.

Portland Adult Entertainment: Wyden Outlines Proposed New Sex Trafficking Law

by kingofportland

Democratic Senator Ron Wyden Thursday announced plans to seek federal funding to fight sex trafficking in Oregon.
Police officers say a high number of prostitutes and pimps operate in Oregon’s sex trafficking underworld.
Flanked by law enforcement officials, Wyden says the state would benefit from millions of dollars in federal grants he proposes.
Ron Wyden: “Sex trafficking is slavery, pure and simple. It’s a crime against human dignity in which teenage girls, many of them virtually children, are bought and sold for sexual exploitation. It is an international problem, but it is a very real Oregon problem.”
Wyden says this proposal would take money from the existing federal crime-fighting budget, and hand out multi-million-dollar grants to regions in the greatest need.
Portland officials said money could be used to build long-term housing for victims who have come forward to help prosecute pimps.

Portland Adult Entertainment: Wyden seeks bill to reduce Ore. sex trafficking

by kingofportland

Wyden seeks bill to reduce Ore. sex trafficking
Associated Press – November 12, 2009 8:05 PM ET
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Sen. Ron Wyden is proposing a new bill to boost protection for girls who become sex trafficking victims and tougher prosecution for the men who exploit them.
The Oregon Democrat was joined at a news conference Thursday afternoon in Portland by law enforcement leaders, including Multnomah County Commissioner Diane McKeel and District Attorney Michael Schrunk.
Wyden said sex trafficking amounts to slavery, and the new bill would fund social and legal services to help girls escape from pimps who prostitute them.
It will also provide housing, clothing, counseling and job training to prevent girls from returning to the streets.
The proposed legislation would target federal funds to states with the greatest need, including Oregon. Each pilot project would receive a grant of $2.5 million for victims and to expand sex trafficking investigations.

Portland Adult Entertainment: Wyden presses for sex trafficking law at Portland news conference

by kingofportland

Wyden was joined by police, victims’ rights advocates and other elected officials in a downtown Portland news conference. He outlined plans for a federal law that would provide $2.5 million grants to regions such as Oregon, which has become a hub of child prostitution.
The money would help get girls off the streets and provide police with resources to put those who exploit them in prison.
“It’s time to take a harder line in prosecuting those who prey on young girls and lure them into a life of sexual exploitation,” Wyden said in a news release.
“The first step in doing that is separating them from their pimps and providing them with a safe and promising alternative so they can provide law enforcement with the evidence needed to bring the real criminals to justice,” the senator said. “These girls are victims. Their pimps are the criminals.”

Portland Adult Entertainment: Report: 2010 Olympics on track for positive impact

by kingofportland

The report released Thursday looked at the economic, cultural and social impacts of the Games from the time Vancouver was awarded the Olympics until December 2008.
“In our review we found one or two minor kind of issues, but nothing that we considered significant to report in the way of anything negative,” Ed Mansfield, a project leader on the reports commissioned by the provincial government.
He said analysts will keep a close eye on some of the possible negative impacts that could manifest themselves starting this year, and after the Games are over, including the so-called “Olympic aversion” effect that would see Whistler suffer economically, disruption to businesses and “certain types of tourism businesses.” Critics say large sporting events like the Olympics see a spike in sex tourism in host cities.

Portland Adult Entertainment: Twilight fever: it gets its teeth into you

by kingofportland

Stewart is an intelligent young woman, and, as her work outside the Twilight zone attests, she is also an extremely bright talent. She can count two of Hollywood’s most accomplished film-makers, Jodie Foster (with whom she worked on Panic Room) and Sean Penn (who directed her in Into the Wild), as mentors, and she knows that the success of the Twilight series has afforded her a tremendous freedom. She has yet to reach 20 and she can already choose the projects she wants. Few teenage starlets are blessed with such luxury.
Between Twilight and New Moon she shot Welcome to the Rileys, a tough, gritty drama in which she plays a teenage stripper, while between New Moon and Eclipse she filmed the rock’n’roll biopic The Runaways, in which she stars as the eponymous band’s leader, Joan Jett. “The whole Twilight thing is kind of weird,” Stewart says, “and people have all these huge expectations, but it means that I can help to get a movie financed, and people will think, ‘Let’s go see Bella in that stripper movie’. I’m glad that it means I can do that movie, and do cool projects like The Runaways.”
