The new code and an accompanying policy for handling problems is intended to create a higher standard for coaches in the 46,000-student district, said spokesman Matt Shelby.
One part of the code holds coaches accountable for their behavior outside of practices, games and other team events.
“The coach must constantly uphold the honor and dignity of the profession,” it says. “In all personal contact with the student athlete, officials, athletic directors, school administrators, the state high school athletic association, the media and the public, the coach shall strive to set an example of the highest ethical and moral conduct.”
The code follows misconduct by a series of coaches at Lincoln.
In April, the school’s baseball coach resigned amid accusations he took three baseball players to a strip club during a school-sanctioned trip to San Francisco over spring break.

These strip clubs are kind of amazing. We’ve got the oldest strip club West of the Mississippi—female-owned-and-operated. In addition, we have the oldest drag club in the country, and we also have the Silverado. There aren’t many places in the country where you can see naked men. There are more strip clubs and more restaurants per capita in Portland than in any other US city.

Well, she got that right.
Her coaches learned there weren’t real consequences. Her students understood that a coaching whistle can get you out of a mess. And the rest of us knew we’d soon be hearing more from the people who educate kids at Lincoln, most of them coaches.
So thank you, Ms. Principal. But I’m wondering today — did the person who needed the biggest education ever get one?
Understand that post-Adelman none of us were surprised when the baseball coach reportedly accompanied players to a strip club on a spring break trip. And nobody was shocked when three football coaches leaving UFC 102 at the Rose Garden were cuffed, cited and taken to a detox center after an altercation with police on the Max platform on Aug. 29.

LOS ANGELES Kanye West is getting his Hugh Grant moment on Jay Leno’s new show. (The show airs at 9 p.m. tonight on NBC.)

West was set to perform with Rihanna and Jay-Z on Monday night’s debut of “The Jay Leno Show” but wasn’t originally scheduled to chat with the host.

But after West drew boos at the MTV Video Music Awards for ruining Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech, NBC said the rapper will talk with Leno. The network announcement came less than an hour before the show’s taping Monday. I

Sitting down with Leno gives West the chance to apologize again for ruining Swift’s moment at the MTV Video Music Awards just as Grant got to make amends in a 1995 visit to Leno’s “Tonight Show” after the actor was arrested with a prostitute.

Lincoln High School in Southwest Portland seems determined to embarrass itself one sport at a time.
The Portland police recently cited the head football coach and two assistant coaches for alcohol-related disorderly conduct on a Max platform. The district placed the three men on paid leave Wednesday, the same day as The Oregonian’s published report of the incident.
This citation follows two other known problems this year: The men’s basketball coach was arrested in February for drunken driving, his second time caught drunk behind the wheel since 2005. Also, the men’s baseball coach resigned in April after allegations were made public that he visited a strip club with a few young players during a spring tournament in San Francisco.

Police responded after a 69-year-old woman made a Lifeline call saying that her grandson was physically pushing his grandfather.
9/8/09 4:59 p.m. Crystalyn Sunshine Richardson, 28, was cited and released on suspicion of prostitution at a hotel.
9/8/09 6:24 p.m. Miranda S. Wardrip, 28, was lodged at Clackamas County Jail on suspicion of meth possession.
9/11/09 1:35 p.m. Ross Alan Parsons, 18, was cited and released on suspicion of third-degree theft.

The drama doesn’t stop today folks. In fact, it still goes on tonight. Kanye West is scheduled to sit down and have a chat with Jay Leno during show’s debut tonight on NBC so he can further apologize for stealing Taylor Swift’s moment during last night’s MTV Music Video Awards.
Although West was going to be performing on the show with Rihanna and Jay-Z as the show’s first musical act, the rapper was not scheduled to sit down and talk to Leno. The announcement was announced a mere hour before the show’s taping. It will air tonight at 10:00 PM on NBC.
The Associated Press is calling this West’s “Hugh Grant” moment. Just as as Grant came onto Leno’s Late Night show to apologize for his encounter with a prostitute, West will now come on to The Jay Leno Show and apologize to Taylor Swift out in the public eyes – literally.

Lack of Reporting
There are now growing questions, investigations and congressional actions surrounding the Association for Community Organizations for Reform Now, known as ACORN. Employees at separate offices were fired after being filmed advising a couple posing as a prostitute and her pimp to lie about her supposed profession on tax forms.
But the item has been largely ignored by the mainstream media, despite ACORN receiving a reported 53 million in taxpayer dollars since 1994. And one network news anchor says he was not even aware of the story. ABC’s Charlie Gibson was asked today on WLS Radio’s “Don & Roma Show” about the lack of coverage and said: “I don’t even know about it so you’ve got me at a loss. I don’t know. But my goodness, if it’s got everything including sleaziness in it — we should talk about it this morning,” later adding, “Maybe that’s just one you leave to the cables.”

House Set To Vote For Disapproval Of Joe Wilson House Democrats are set to move a resolution of disapproval against Rep. Joe Wilson (R-SC), for his “You lie!” outburst during President Obama’s speech to Congress last week. House Republican Leader John Boehner (R-OH) has already announced that he opposes the motion, and Wilson has refused to make an apology to House for the breach of decorum, saying that his apology to the White House was sufficient.
Senate Cuts Off Money For ACORN
The Senate has voted 83-7 to bar ACORN from receiving funds from the Department of Housing and Urban Development, in the wake of ACORN workers having been caught on tape giving advice to conservative activists disguised as pimps and prostitutes. “This is a strong message by the Senate, and I hope this vote, which rises above partisanship to do what is right, becomes the rule rather than the exception,” said Sen. Mike Johanns (R-NE), the main sponsor of the amendment. “I will continue to work to see that Americans’ tax dollars will not go to support fraudulent organizations or activities.”
