Tour — featuring the top 10 contestants from the eighth season of the country’s number-one television show — some 12,000 Idolaters of all ages piled into the Rose Garden Arena Sunday night to cheer on their favorite entrants in what could be considered the largest karaoke match in history.
And from the cries as the Idols flashed across projection screens, it was clear who the winner would be.
Michael Sarver couldn’t hide his glee, but also couldn’t stir the crowd with his awkward two-song fusion of country and R&B. Megan Joy, appearing as Call Girl Barbie, didn’t command the stage, and her attempts to mine the soul of “Tears Dry on Their Own” just turned shrill.

PORTLAND, OR—U.S. Attorney Karin J. Immergut announced today that Donnico T. Johnson, 37, of Portland, Oregon, made his initial appearance before U.S. Magistrate Judge Dennis J. Hubel on charges of sex trafficking, transportation of a minor, and coercion and enticement of a 16-year old female with the purpose of prostitution. On June 16, 2009, a federal grand jury issued a superseding indictment charging Johnson and co-defendant Lisa Miles, 30, who were arrested last Thursday in Portland. Both defendants are in custody pending trial, which is set for August 11, 2009.
The indictment alleges that Johnson and Miles transported the minor female from Seattle, Washington to Portland, Oregon with the intent that she engage in prostitution. Further, it alleges that Johnson knew the female was under the age of 18. Johnson´s co-defendant, Miles, was arraigned last Friday and held in custody pending trial by U.S. Magistrate Judge Janice M. Stewart.

Pair arraigned on sex trafficking charges

PORTLAND — Two people have been accused of transporting a girl from Seattle to Portland with the intent she work as a prostitute.
U.S. Attorney Karin J. Immergut said Thursday that 37-year-old Donnico Johnson and 30-year-old Lisa Miles have been arraigned in federal court on sex trafficking charges.
The victim’s mother wrote the court, asking for the couple to remain in custody until trial. She wrote that she is proud of her teenage daughter for “her bravery in standing up to these cowards.”
Johnson and Miles are scheduled to go to trial Aug. 11. They will remain in jail until then.
