Portland Strip Clubs: Trial: Man denies abusing daughter of old friend

by exoticinportland

Trial: Man denies abusing daughter of old friend
The Argus
A man from The Dalles stands accused in Washington County Circuit Court this week of sexually abusing the 10-year-old daughter of his high school friend during a visit to Hillsboro in August 2005.
Joshua Dale Phillips, 35, is charged with one count of sex abuse.
Defense attorney Michael Greenlick told the jury of seven men and five women Wednesday that the victim was not a reliable reporter of the events.
With a biological mother who was a stripper parading her sex life in front of her young daughter, combined with the girl’s attention deficit disorder, it was understandable she became far more mature than her age would indicate, Greenlick said.
Exposure to this lifestyle contributed to the imaginative and changing stories she told police and sex abuse counselors, exaggerating the events of the night in question, he said.

Portland Adult Entertainment: Women sue ex-manager at Portland trailer park

by kingofportland

Women sue ex-manager at Portland trailer park
(AP) PORTLAND, Ore. – Nine women have filed a lawsuit against a former maintenance manager who is under investigation for alleged sexual assaults at a Portland mobile home park.
Three of the nine say Robert Louis Fry sexually assaulted them. The others claim he subjected them to a steady stream of sexual harassment.
Several of the women complained to police, but no charges have been filed.
The 66-year-old Fry denies the allegations, saying the women are retaliating because he took steps against drug dealing and prostitution in the park.
The women are asking for $60,000 each in damages for suffering and emotional distress. On top of those amounts, a 65-year-old plaintiff is asking for $300,000 and three others, including a 15-year-old girl, seek an additional $100,000.

Portland Adult Entertainment: Catholic Charities gets new development team

by kingofportland

The program has stayed small and focused, so it can give good help to a few, not a little help to many. The agency works with about 50 women over a three-year period. The group goes on outings to concerts and museums and convenes at the office for a weekly movie with snacks. The average age of clients is 44.
“We have relationships with people,” Dechenne says. “That’s what makes it work.” Meanwhile, Catholic Charities works to free those considered modern-day slaves.
Often, people from developing countries land in the U.S. and are offered housing or food in return for labor or sex. The relationship soon becomes abusive as the immigrant is forced into hard work or prostitution for little or no pay. Sometimes, a middle man in Mexico or some other country will arrange smuggled passage for a young person to the U.S., but pimps or unscrupulous employers at restaurants or farms are waiting on the other end.

Portland Adult Entertainment: Nine women file civil suit, accusing former trailer park manager …

by kingofportland

Another woman, who has lived in the trailer park for almost a year, alleges that Fry grabbed her breasts and touched her without permission on several occasions. The lawsuit also says that when the woman was behind on rent, Fry offered to give her an extension if she would have sex with him.
Three of the nine women say Fry has offered to overlook unpaid debts and back rent if they would do sexual favors for him.
Another woman who rented a trailer in 2007 for her non-profit religious organization claims that Fry sexually assaulted her a year later. One woman, who has since left the park, said Fry told her that he had watched her and her boyfriend having sex in her trailer and had also seen her in the bathroom.
In an interview Friday, Fry denied the allegations and said the women are retaliating because he took steps against drug dealing and prostitution in the park.

Portland Adult Entertainment: Portland Loo: so far, so good, so more are on the way

by kingofportland

The Old Town prototype sits along Northwest Glisan Street near the Greyhound bus station. It had a slight hiccup during the winter — the toilet’s solar panels were covered with snow, causing the plumbing to freeze — and a few minor fixes are planned for the next round of door locks and signage.
The stainless steel toilet has been a hit with everyone from the police to local businesses to homeless advocates.
On a recent day, the toilet was getting steady use. A knee-high line of slats designed to help police detect criminal activity inside, revealed several tall-boy cans of Camo beer littering the floor.
Police approve of the structure’s design. In the city’s old brick restrooms, “people could go in, shoot up drugs, conduct prostitution,” says Detective Mary Wheat, a police spokeswoman. “We’re never going to stop everything, but it’s an added advantage to be able to see what’s going on.”

Portland Adult Entertainment: Fallen evangelical leader, Ted Haggard, tells his story

by kingofportland

John Bishop, pastor of Living Hope, invited the Haggards to appear at the breakfast, as well as at the church’s worship services that weekend. Bishop felt it was important to hear from the Haggards because he and many others in the Christian community had many questions about how a nationall known spiritual leader could fall so stunningly. Because of the scandal, Haggard resigned in November 2006 as pastor of 14,000-member New Life Church in Colorado Springs, Colo., which he had founded. His severance agreement with the church required him to leave Colorado for two years. He also stepped down from his politically powerful role as president of the National Association of Evangelicals, representing 45,000 churches with 30 million members. The resignations came after Haggard acknowledged soliciting a male prostitute for homosexual sex and methamphetamine. Initially Haggard denied even knowing the prostitute, but as a media investigation proceeded he admitted that some allegations, such as his purchase of methamphetamine, were true. He later added “sexual immorality” to his list of confessions. “I didn’t do everything I was accused of, but I sure did enough,” Haggard told the Vancouver audience.
