Signs pop up in Portland
Updated: Friday, 31 Jul 2009, 4:43 PM EDTPublished : Friday, 31 Jul 2009, 4:37 PM EDT
PORTLAND, Ore. (NBC) – Another traffic sign warning drivers of zombies ahead has popped up, but this time, it is in Oregon.
Motorists in Portland saw a contractor’s sign Wednesday near the Ross Island Bridge.
A prankster apparently accessed the sign’s controls and typed in the message “Caution Zombie Strippers.”
The sign was spotted by officials and turned off Thursday.
The prank is old news in Austin, where hackers in January changed the toll sign on MLK to read: “Zombies ahead” and “The end is near!!” The story made headlines around the world, touching off a few copycats throughout the week.

Portland Escorts: As Tiger Woods goes, so goes Lebron James

by escortingportland

As Tiger Woods goes, so goes Lebron James
Thursday July 30, 2009 | 12:30:25 pm 410 words, 131 views
A short while back, Lebron James found himself in a mini-controversy when it was learned that he had asked Nike to disappear a video tape of James being dunked on. While the incident certainly isn’t world-shaking by any means, it was a chance to see inside the massive ego of one of this era’s great athletes.
Of course, it’s not like James was the first superstar athlete to hide his flaws. About 100 years ago, Babe Ruth would eat 20 hot dogs, drink 30 beers, sleep with 28 prostitutes and then go 2-for-4 with a dinger. And the press would dutifully report on the dinger and little else.
Using a more recent example, it’s easy to see that James could be following in the same footsteps as Tiger Woods when it comes to image control.

Portland Strip Clubs: Portland mother-and-daughter business makes the clothes strippers …

Portland mother-and-daughter business makes the clothes strippers remove

This is the wisdom known to women who produce stripper outfits for a living. Which is what Rosie and Gina Patterson do at the Brass Pole, the stripper-themed boutique they own and operate in Southeast Portland. And while it may surprise some to learn such a shop exists, it should be more surprising to realize that a city that boasts something like 50 strip clubs (more per capita than any other in the United States) has only one shop geared toward satisfying the dancers’ clothing needs.

That was in 2003. It wasn’t long before the woman told her colleagues about her seamstress, and soon they started calling, too. Not long after that Gina Patterson began taking her wares directly to the clubs, going backstage to show the dancers what she had already made, and to take measurements for the gowns they wanted for themselves. Though she wasn’t an aficionado of the stripper’s art, it turned out she had a talent for producing what they needed.

Portland Strip Clubs: Attorney enters not guilty plea on behalf of corrections deputy

by exoticinportland

A Multnomah County judge Wednesday ordered Multnomah County corrections deputy Steven D. Cowles to possess no weapons, including firearms or stun guns, and consume no alcohol as he awaits trial on misdemeanor charges. Cowles’ attorney, Philip A. Lewis, entered a not guilty plea on his client’s behalf to the allegations of harassment and improper use of a stun gun.
Cowles, 44, chose not to appear at his arraignment, which is allowed in misdemeanor court as long as an attorney is present.
Cowles is accused of Tasering a man in the back at a Northeast Portland strip club on the night of June 26, after he thought the man was threatening a club employee. Cowles, who was off duty at the time, used his personal Taser, not the county-issued one he has at work, the sheriff’s office said.

Re: Aloha mother charged with child neglect at Sauvie Island
One cant help but wonder what the charges may have been and who might have been charged had the children wandered into the clothing optional area of the island. I am sure a lot of adult males over there would have been glad to help two lost children.
The child neglect charges help round out the criminal past of a woman who has been charged with prostitution, theft and controlled substances violation.

Portland Adult Entertainment: Missing Children Found On Sauvie Island

by kingofportland

PORTLAND, Ore. — Child neglect charges have been filed against a Washington County woman accused of falling asleep while visiting a Sauvie Island beach with two 6-year-olds.
Columbia County authorities said the children wandered away Tuesday when 46-year-old Diana Bedrosian fell asleep. The children were missing for close to two hours before they were found on a gravel road next to the beach about a half-mile away from where Bedrosian was sleeping.
The first 911 call to report the children missing came at 6:20 p.m. They were found at 7:37 p.m.
Bedrosian is the mother of one of the children. Sheriff Jeff Dickerson said authorities believe she neglected her responsibility to make sure the kids were safe.
Bedrosian has prior convictions for theft, prostitution and controlled substance offenses, according to the sheriff’s office. On Tuesday, she was arrested on two counts of child neglect.

Portland Adult Entertainment: A bicycling tour connects one tough economic time to another

by kingofportland

Moscato knows the sting all too well. Raised in Buffalo, N.Y., he came west to study arts administration at the University of Oregon in 2001, then moved to Portland a few years later. He worked for various arts organizations, nonprofits and as communications manager for the City Club before getting tapped to be marketing manager for the Museum of Contemporary Craft in early 2008. A terrific job — right until a financial crisis last fall required the museum to lay off something like a third of the staff.
Randy L. Rasmussen/The OregonianMarc Moscato runs the cycling tours of various Portland sites.
Adrift, Moscato thought of Chicago’s Dill Pickle Club, a Depression-era organization dedicated to giving dispossessed and eccentric folks throughout society — members included doctors, labor leaders, prostitutes and hobos — a forum to share ideas. Inspired by the group’s endless curiosity and open, playful spirit, Moscato worked with a few friends to found a new Dill Pickle Club in Portland.
